Called by General George Patton, “The greatest battle implement ever devised,” the M1 Garand is the rifle that helped our greatest generation defeat the thousand year Reich of the Nazis and the Japanese Empire in the Pacific. It was truly a rifle ahead of its time, but has now been eclipsed by modern technology….or has it? USSA lead rifle instructor and professional 3-Gun shooter Erik Lund will demonstrate why this old war dog still has plenty of fight left! Accurate, reliable, and packing plenty of power, the M1 Garand is still a formidable weapon.

This is a great opportunity to enhance your fighting skills by developing your individual shooting skills and not relying on technology to do it for you. Learn the traditional rifle skills of your fathers and grandfathers as well as the modern fighting techniques developed at the US Shooting Academy.

The exact amount of ammunition needed for the course will be on a student-by-student basis.  It is entirely possible that a student will only need three 192 rd. cases of ammunition, 576 rounds, to complete the course.  However, some students might expend more ammunition and fire somewhere in the vicinity of three 240 rd. cases of ammunition, 720 rounds.  Nonetheless, regardless of the amount of ammunition you are able to bring, this course will be extremely beneficial and enhance your knowledge and ability with the M1 Garand.

Techniques will include:

  • Field stripping and maintenance

  • Establishing mechanical zero

  • Iron sight adjustments

  • Use of traditional slings

  • Fundamentals of shooting

  • Positional shooting techniques
